An Object to Desire
Like the iconic radiograms of yesteryear, R810 is a product that has been designed to be seen. Enhancing R810’s aesthetics is the special material we’ve selected for the handcrafted grille and veneered cabinets. Made from sustainable woods that are spliced and reconstituted, the resulting grain patterns closely resemble slow-growing hardwoods but without the ecological impact. Combined with the precision formed trims and polished chrome stand, R810 radiates sophistication and like the finest furniture, it is an object that you will cherish and be proud to have on display in your home.
A Beautiful Display
Many systems today rely totally on smartphones and suchlike to provide information on settings and source, but with R810 the hi-resolution display provides all the information you need right in front of you and brings the look of R810 to life. With its portrait orientation the display intentionally emulates the way we view music applications on our phones and in conjunction with our new RotoDial controller makes R810 second nature to use. The intensity of the display in standby and active mode is also fully adjustable to suit your needs.
Tactile Controls
With touch-screens seemingly controlling everything these days, in our opinion you still can’t beat the positive click of a button or satisfying turn of a dial, particularly when it comes packaged as something unique and beautiful like our RotoDial control system, which for 100 Series has been improved and enhanced.
Included with R810 is a matching rechargeable remote. Bluetooth connectivity means that aiming is not required during operation and looking so good, it’s an item that you will want to leave out on display for everyone to touch and see.
What Lies Beneath
We’re passionate about aesthetic design, but we know that it’s what lies beneath that is fundamental in creating great sound. An example of this is R810’s enclosure where inside it has been carefully divided into compartments, each which have been optimised for their intended task. Twin bass reflex compartments house our NS+ bass-midrange units and silk dome tweeters and the long throw subwoofer is housed beneath, in an infinite baffle enclosure for superbly controlled and extended bass.
Driving the system is a powerful five channel Class A-B discrete component amplifier. Five separate channels means that we can precisely control the response of each drive unit and with the latest sound processing technologies, music is produced with effortless ease with a stunning soundstage that will immerse you and fill your home with exquisite sound.
Connection Bliss
R810 is a fully integrated entertainment system and provides all the connectivity you are ever likely to need. Streaming is its forte, but if you want to play records and CDs, these mediums can also be enjoyed by connecting a turntable to the phono inputs or a CD-ROM drive to the USB-C socket.
With its ability to play the highest quality audio streams, R810 opens a whole world of music and entertainment. Spotify Connect and TIDAL Connect are built-in and with the addition of Apple AirPlay and Chromecast built-in, you can stream and control directly from apps such as Apple Music, BBC Sounds, Amazon Music, Qobuz and many more. Apple AirPlay
AirPlay is a proprietary wireless technology developed by Apple Inc. that lets you stream music directly over Wi-Fi to R410 and R810 from iOS apps such as Apple Music, Deezer, BBC Sounds, TuneIn Radio and many more in high-resolution sound quality.
Chromecast built-in
Chromecast built-in is a wireless technology developed by Google. It is primarily used in Android devices but also works with many iOS apps.
With Chromecast built-in you can stream music directly over Wi-Fi to R410 and R810 from apps such as Amazon Music and BBC Sounds in high-resolution sound quality.
Also with a Google Nest Hub or smart speaker, you can control playback with your voice. Setting up requires the Google Home app, but once done you can simply say “Hey Google, play BBC Radio 3 on my R810” or suchlike and the system will respond as instructed.
Spotify Connect
Spotify Connect (currently the world’s most popular streaming platform) allows you to stream music over Wi-Fi to R410 and R810. Unlike Bluetooth, it does not drain battery power, because the Connect service pushes music directly from the Spotify cloud to R410 and R810 rather than playing through your device. This means that you can take calls and messages without interruption or even switch off your device completely.
Tidal Connect
TIDAL Connect is a high-resolution music streaming service that allows you to stream music over Wi-Fi to R410 and R810. Unlike Bluetooth, it does not drain battery power, because the TIDAL Connect service pushes music directly from the TIDAL cloud to R410 and R810 rather than playing through your device. This means that you can take calls and messages without interruption or even switch off your device completely.
Apple Music
Apple Music is Apple’s own music streaming service. Subscribe to Apple Music and you have access to over 100 million songs which you can stream wirelessly to R410 and R810 using Apple AirPlay for the best possible sound quality.
Amazon Music
If you are an Amazon Music user you can browse and control your playback and adjust volume directly from within the Amazon Music app to our R410 and R810 models using either Apple AirPlay or Chromecast built-in.
BBC Sounds
BBC Sounds is a great app that puts everything BBC radio-related into one easy-to-navigate package. Compatibility with both AirPlay and Chromecast built-in devices means you can browse, control and playback directly from the BBC Sounds app to R410 and R810 with high-resolution sound.
Deezer
If you are a Deezer Music user you can browse and control your playback and adjust the volume of R410 and R810 directly from within the Deezer app, streaming by either Apple AirPlay or Chromecast built-in.
Qobuz
If you are a Qobuz user you can browse and control your playback and adjust volume directly from within the Qobuz app to R410 and R810 using either Apple AirPlay or Chromecast built-in with both providing high-resolution sound quality.
Internet radio
The choice of Internet radio stations is vast and in general, the sound quality is better than that of DAB or FM. Have fun browsing, national and international stations and save your favourites as presets for easy access using 100 Series’ intuitive RotoDial controller or remote.
DAB/DAB+ radio
Internet radio is rapidly becoming the choice for most radio listening, as an aerial is not required, but DAB/DAB+ is easy to use and offers a greater selection of stations than FM.
FM radio
FM radio is still a great way to listen to radio as it exhibits a natural analogue warmth that is missing in low-bitrate DAB radio. In particular, it works well with spoken word and classical music, but a good quality external aerial is highly recommended for best sound and reception.
Bluetooth HD
With a super high-quality aptX Bluetooth receiver built-in, it means you can wirelessly stream music from your smartphone or computer to R410 and R810 with better-than-CD sound quality without the need for a Wi-Fi connection. Both R410 and R810 remember up to eight previously connected devices, making it easy to switch and connect as required. Ideal in a busy family environment.
Wi-Fi
Both R410 and R810 are 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz compatible so they will wirelessly connect and communicate with the latest dual-band home Wi-Fi routers.
Ethernet
The ethernet connector on the rear of R410 and R810 allows you to create a hardwired connection to your home network, allowing optimum performance when weak Wi-Fi strength and conflicts are an issue. Ideal to use with powerline adaptors.
HDMI
With HDMI ARC/eARC connectivity, both R410 and R810 make a superb sound system for TVs and a complete solution for your entertainment needs. HDMI ARC syncs both R410 and R810 with your TV, so you can use your TV remote to adjust volume as well as turn on or off.
Optical input
The switchable optical input allows you to easily connect devices such as CD players or external streamers with optical outputs for optimum sound quality.
Phono input
Both R410 and R810 feature two sets of switchable RCA connectors.
The Phono-In input is a dedicated turntable input which has RIAA phono gain stage built-in allowing a turntable with a moving magnet cartridge to be directly connected without the need for a separate preamplifier.
The Line-In input allows you to connect a variety of auxiliary devices with line-level outputs such as a standard CD player or gaming console.
CD via USB
Playing CDs is easy to do, simply by connecting a USB CD drive to the USB-C socket on the rear of R410 and R810. When connected, CD is automatically added to the list of sources and then using the RotoDial controller you can control CD playback just as you would a built-in player, with functions such as play/pause, skip, shuffle and repeat all available.
Multiroom
With Apple AirPlay and Chromecast built-in, you can easily create an easy-to-manage multi-room system, linking R410 and R810 together or with other AirPlay and Chromecast compatible speakers.
Wireless updates
Wireless updates mean that we can provide updates to R410 and R810 if required to ensure they are always working as they should.
UPnP streamer
Rip your CDs and store downloaded music on a PC, Mac or network-attached storage device to create your own home music library and then wirelessly browse and playback on R810 using the Media Player source.
